Play.fm just got selected as MidemNet Lab finalist! Wait, Midem? Lab? What? Well, for starters: Midem is one of the world’s biggest annual events for the music industry taking place in Cannes, France, from January 22 to 26, 2011. This time more than 7.000 delegates from 3.200 companies in 78 countries are expected attending Midem:

“MIDEM and MidemNet bring together the music industry’s influencers and decision makers from across the globe.  MidemNet provides insightful analysis into the mobile and digital music markets.”

The MidemNet Lab on the other hand is a competition, where music startups pitch their projects in the areas of mobile applications, industry services (B2B) and consumer services (B2C) to a panel of judges of industry experts, Venture Capitalists and digital media during the five days of MIDEM. Following the pitch sessions, a winner will be chosen by each of the three judging panels.

Lucky enough, Play.fm is one of the 10 finalists in the category “consumer services”. This is a great chance to expose Play.fm to important people in the music industry from all over the world. Especially when you keep in mind what’s coming up during the next weeks (apps, anyone?). Georg “el jefe” himself will take the trip to beautiful Cannes to pitch Play.fm and tell people about how we keep our listeners’ ears excited.

Keep your fingers crossed and keep listening.
